In a major shuffle of senior bureaucrats, the Tamil Nadu government on Wednesday transferred K. Gnanadesikan and posted P. Rama Mohana Rao as Chief Secretary.
The incumbent Gnanadesikan has been transferred as additional Chief Secretary, CMD, Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO), a government order said.
Rama Mohan Rao will also function as the Vigilance Commissioner and Commissioner for Administrative Reforms. Rao belongs to the 1985 batch of IAS and hails from Andhra Pradesh. From an Additional Collector in 1987, he has held key positions in many departments – Health, Water Resources, Transport, Social Welfare etc., Housing and Urban Development etc.

He also headed the Teachers Recruitment Board in 2007, Chairman and Managing Director of Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers Limited and Commissioner, Land Reforms.
Santha Sheela Nair has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty in the Chief Minister’s Office. Following the transfers, K.N. Venkataramanan, Shiv Das Meena, S. Vijayakumar and A. Ramalingam would function as Secretary-I, Secretary-II, Secretary-III and Secretary-IV to the Chief Minister respectively.
Rao, a native of Prakasam district in Andhra Ptadesh, was recently elevated as Additional Chief Secretary and his name was making the rounds in Secretariat corridors for the top post
