Madras High Court gets 15 more judges
The Madras High Court on Sunday, August 9, welcomed 15 new judges, comprising eight advocates and seven judicial officers.
Chief Justice SA Dharmadhikari administered the oath of office at a ceremony held on the High Court premises. Following the appointments, the court’s working strength has increased to 66 judges against a sanctioned strength of 75.
Five advocates have been appointed as permanent judges: Krishnaswamy Govindarajan, Rajnish Pathiyil, Natarajan Ramesh, G K Muthukumaar and Ramakrishnan Rajesh Vivekananthan.
Three other advocates — Sankaranarayanan Raveekumar, Nagarajan Dilip Kumar and Ellappan Manoharan — have been appointed as additional judges for two years.
Seven judicial officers have also been elevated as additional judges for a two-year term. They are Dr P Murugan, M D Sumathi, S Alli, C Thirumagal Chandrasekar, Shanmugam Karthikeyan, Baluchamy Murugesan and N Gunasekaran.
