R Madhavan, who is playing the lead role in Rocketry- The Nambi Effect, a biopic on scientist and aerospace engineer S Nambi Narayanan, will now direct the film solely.
Earlier, he was set to codirect the movie along with Ananth Mahadevan. Since the latter had to leave the project due to “unavoidable circumstances”, the former has come forward to helm it on his own.
In a statement, the Alaipayuthey and Vikram Vedha actor said, “Ananth Mahadevan is an extremely talented filmmaker. However, owing to unavoidable circumstances and certain pressing commitments he could no longer direct Rocketry – The Nambi Effect.”
He added: “Rocketry is close to my heart for many reasons. The film is shaping up well and I can’t wait to tell the incredible story of Nambi Narayanan to the world.”
Recently, Madhavan revealed that he sat on a chair for 14 hours non-stop, to wear make-up for the movie. In a video, he said, “When getting in the character take 2 years and getting the look in place take 14 hrs on the chair.”
“I am very excited that Nambi sir is back to his original look. He look fifteen years younger. I have no idea how I am going to look. I have never been so closed up in my life, but fingers crossed and hoping for the best. I am half way there I think,” he added.
