Shedding his chocoloate boy image, Madhavan is all set to make his debut as a director with ‘Rocketry – The Nambi Effect’ in which he plays the lead role.
The film is a biopic on Nambi Narayanan, a former Indian scientist and aerospace engineer of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) who was accused of espionage.

“I have full confidence that this film will be one the best stories I have so far told in my career. I am not sure how many people know how much about Nambi Narayanan. A lot of people have researched about him on the internet after I announced that am doing a film on him. But I can say with a lot of confidence that whatever about him needs to be on the internet is not there,” he said.
“The film is not about the false case on Nambi Narayanan as many believe so,” Madhavan said and added that Nambi Narayanan is a sort of Abdul Kalam meets James Bond type of person.

Expressing gratitude to everyone for sending him wishes on various social media platforms, he said, “I was afraid that this would be an insignificant celebration during the lockdown. But this has become such an eye-opener for me.”
He added: “I want to make a wish that the next time I celebrate my birthday, there’s more love in the world, there’s more compassion in the world, that all the agitation, grievances and agony we have today go away.”
