Film producer S Madhan, whose mysterious disappearance for last several months landed the SRM group chairman Pachamuthu in prison, was finally caught by the Chennai police at Tirupur in western part of Tamil Nadu.
Before leaving Chennai, Madhan had left a message stating that he was going to attain ‘samadhi’ in Kasi. On June 1, police received a complaint about him. Later, 123 complainants were filed against him by parents of MBBS seats aspirants stating that he had collected Rs 84.27 crore from them.
Industry sources believe that Madhan’s arrest is sure to solve many unanswered questions in Kollywood. Due to Madhan’s disappearance, Raghava Lawrence’s Motta Siva Ketta Siva is getting delayed and now, financiers in Kollywood are quite relieved as they have minor chances of getting back their invested money.
Madhan, who turned 45 on Monday and was apparently planning a birthday bash, was picked up by police at midnight from his girlfriend’s residence on Avinashi Road, Tirupur, six months after he disappeared.
A graduate from the Marathwada Institute of Technology in Aurangabad, Madhan evaded arrest by camping in various places like Bengaluru, Goa, Kochi, Tirupur, Manipur, Roorkee, Haridwar, Varanasi and Devaprayag. He travelled to these places with his girlfriend in a Porsche car. He kept changing his appearance from keeping a big moustache to a ponytail, and sometimes tonsured his head, kept a long beard and wore saffron clothes.
Police came to know that Madhan was helping some people in Manipur financially and he came to Tirupur to meet up with a woman.
“Learning about this, the police went to interrogate the woman. Initially, she kept denying her association with Madhan. But later they found him hiding in a ‘private room’ on the first floor of the house,” said a senior official.
How was Madhan arrested by police after six months?
