M K Stalin, Chidambaram greet Jayalalitha
DMK leader and former deputy chief minister of Tamil Nadu M K Stalin on Thursday congratulated chief minister J Jayalalithaa and chose to issue a statement on Facebook.
“We hope the AIADMK will act with restraint and allow the assembly to function in a manner benefiting the people of Tamil Nadu. I also take this opportunity to congratulate Selvi J Jayalalithaa,” he posted on his Facebook page
Expressing gratitude to the people of Kolathur for electing him, he added: “A big thank you to the people of Kolathur for re-electing me as your MLA. I will continue my efforts to make Kolathur a model constituency in Tamil Nadu”.
Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister P. Chidambaram has congratulated Jayalalithaa who is set to form the government after securing an absolute majority in the just-concluded Assembly elections.
In a statement, Chidambaram said that though the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam-Congress combine could not secure the requisite number of seats for forming the government, the combine winning about 100 seats gave a sense of satisfaction.
He was extremely happy that in the six Assembly segments, constituting Sivaganga Lok Sabha constituency, represented by him for a record seven terms, the DMK had won three seats and the Congress one, he said.
“I am happy to say that this was due to the sincere efforts put in by the DMK cadres and the hard work by the Congress workers,” he added.
