Liquor seized from Ramya Krishnan’s car: More details revealed

Tamil Nadu Police have recovered about 100 bottles of liquor from the car of actress Ramya Krishnan, who had starred in movies like Baahubali, Padaiyappa etc.

Ramya Krishnan’s driver was arrested after the police seized 2 crates of beer and liquor bottles the actress’ car. Reportedly, the police were checking all the vehicles coming from Mahabalipuram.

When they stopped Ramya’s Toyota Innova car at the Muthukadu check post on the East Coast Road and asked for checking, she agreed. Police then confiscating the liquor bottles and arrested her driver Selvakumar. The Police found nearly 96 bottles in the car.

Chennai hasn’t opened TASMAC shops yet and selling or transporting of liquor in the city is illegal and against the rules of lockdown. According to media reports, driver Selvakumar has been let off on personal bail.

The police confiscated the bottles and arrested the driver Selvakumar who said the liquor was bought at the Tamil Nadu government run liquor shop. The government has not allowed the opening of the Tasmac shops in Chennai. After questioning, the driver was released on bail.

It was a normal checking procedure that the police were taking place at the check-post. Ramya’s Innova Crysta with number TN07Q 0099 was also checked and found filled with liquor bottles.

As state-owned TASMAC shops, the monopoly for selling liquor in the state was banned in areas coming under the Greater Chennai police limits in view of the coronavirus lockdown, police intensified checks as people from the
city visit the border areas of neighbouring districts to get their liquor quota.

During routine vehicle checks, police stopped the car of Ramya Krishnan, who was returning from Mahabalipuram, at Muttukadu checkpost and seized the liquor bottles.
