Lions Club of Chennai Sunrisers plans project worth Rs.50 lakh

Lions Club of Chennai Sunrisers has drawn up plans to do projects worth Rs.50 lakh for the Lionstic Year 2023-24, said its new President Ln. A. Jayachandran.

The new President, who also bagged the ‘Lion of the Year Award’ said that it was an ambitious target. He called upon the members for their suggestions and cooperation to achieve this goal.

On July 2, Chennai Sunrisers conducted its 11 th  installation ceremony, in which educational grants of over Rs.1 lakh were given to deserving students from weaker strata of society and it honoured 18 students for excelling in sports and education. Besides, the club also recognized the contribution of women entrepreneur Malathi Raja of Yathumagi Travels for successfully organizing a family tour.

Chief Guest PMJF Ln N.R. Dhanapalan administered oath of office to new office bearers namely Ln A. Jayachandran as President for the Lionstic Year 2023-24, Ln K. Subbiah as Secretary and Ln S. Manikandan as Treasurer.

Installation officer MJF Ln Sreemurugan, Zone Chairperson Mohammed Thahir and Regional Chairperson Suresh welcomed 10 new members to the club by administering the pledge and providing them pins.

In his address, Secretary 2022-23 Ln S. Shankar said that Club completed 35 projects worth Rs.18 lakh and the notable one was constructing two complete classrooms with RCC roof for Anganwadi in Kattupakkam and servicing, renovating and installing an old RO water plant for 700 students at Chennai Middle School, MMDA Arumbakkam.

Immediate Past President Ln M. Balasubramanian outlined the achievements of the club and thanked the District Chairpersons, Zone Chairperson and members for making it a memorable and a successful year.
