“Life in Loom” explores the lives of weavers from seven different states across India. The documentary provides a poignant portrayal of the challenges faced by these artisans as they navigate a rapidly globalizing world. The unorganized handloom sector, which predominantly employs rural, semi-rural, and tribal communities, is profoundly impacted by socio-economic shifts, political dynamics, and climate changes.

Through this film, viewers gain insight into the daily struggles of these artisans who strive to preserve traditional weaving methods passed down through generations over millennia.

Directed by the talented Edmon Ranson, making his directorial debut, “Life in Loom” showcases his prior experience as a cinematographer for short films and assistant director in the Tamil film industry.

The documentary has garnered acclaim at several prestigious film festivals, including being selected for the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) and the Madurai International Documentary Film Festival. It clinched the Best Documentary award at the Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF) under the theme “India in Amrit Kaal” and also received Top honors in the Best Documentary category at the Tagore International Film Festival (TIFF)

Director Edmon Ranson was honored with the Best Debut Director award at the Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF)
