“Leader” Movie Review
Leader is an entertaining action-packed commercial film that delivers exactly what it promises — fast-paced action, emotion, music, and heroic moments blended into a solid masala entertainer. The story revolves around an undercover agent who lives a quiet life as a car mechanic in Thoothukudi while secretly working to stop a dangerous plan to blow up the port using ammonium nitrate. The film successfully mixes action, sentiment, and mass moments in a way that keeps the audience engaged from beginning to end.
Legend Saravanan plays Sakthivel, a single father who lives a simple and peaceful life with his daughter Irene while working near the Thoothukudi port. His character is calm, serious, and protective, which suits the actor’s screen presence well. When criminals led by Salt and an international operator known as The Devil attempt to smuggle dangerous explosives into the port, the story shifts into full action mode. Inspector Indra and SP Bakthavachalam investigate the case, but Sakthivel ultimately becomes the key force standing between the villains and a major disaster.
Director R.S. Durai Senthilkumar directed the film as a fast-moving commercial entertainer filled with action sequences, emotional moments, and songs placed neatly within the narrative. The film maintains a steady pace and rarely slows down, which helps keep the audience entertained throughout. The interval block, especially the container truck sequence involving ammonium nitrate, stands out as one of the major highlights and delivers a strong cinematic moment.
Ghibran’s background score plays an important role in maintaining the film’s energy, especially during action and emotional scenes. The action choreography is solid and gives the film a proper mass-action feel. The supporting cast, including Andrea Jeremiah, Shaam, Prabhakar, and Santhosh Prathap, contribute effectively and add strength to the overall story.
Legend Saravanan shows noticeable improvement in his performance compared to his debut film. His character is designed to suit his strengths, focusing more on action and serious moments rather than heavy emotional drama, which works well for the film.
Overall, Leader does not try to be a complex thriller but succeeds as a commercial action entertainer. It feels like a full meals buffet — action, emotion, music, and hero moments — leaving the audience satisfied and entertained.
