‘Lakshman Sruthi’ Raman found dead in Chennai

V Raman, managing director of Lakshman Sruthi musical enterprises, ended his life at his residence in Chennai on Tuesday night

On Tuesday night, Raman was at Lakshman Sruthi’s annual music festival Chennaiyil Thiruvaiyaru in Kamarajar Arangam.

In the middle of programme, he left for his home in Subbarayan Nagar, Ashok Nagar and ended his life, said police. The reason for his decision was not immediately known, though sources said he was suffering from health issues.

Ashok Nagar Police recovered his body and have begun an investigation into the death. The body was sent to a government hospital for a post- mortem. The news of Raman’s death has shocked music industry.

Lakshman Sruthi Orchestra was inaugurated in the year 1987. V Lakshmanan and V Raman, the musical brothers’ duo, in addition to pioneering their very own orchestra are famous for their musical instruments store in the city — Lakshman Sruthi Musicals.

The brothers have performed over 10,000 shows worldwide with their troupe. Raman was 54 and is survived by his mother, wife, son, three brothers and one sister.
