Koose Munisamy Veerappan – Unseen Veerappan Tapes-web series review

The highly anticipated six-part docu-series, “Koose Munisamy Veerappan – Unseen Veerappan Tapes,” The series promises an exclusive glimpse into the life of the notorious poacher and bandit, Veerappan, showcasing previously unreleased interview footage. Renowned journalist Nakkheeran Gopal, who extensively engaged with Veerappan, confirmed the inclusion of these unseen video tapes.

Directed by Sharath Jothi, the docu-series will be available in Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, and Hindi on the Zee5 platform. The decision to postpone the release appears to be strategic, possibly to avoid competition with two major releases on other platforms – “The Archies” on December 7 and “Jigarthanda DoubleX” on December 8.

The official synopsis teases viewers to “explore the intriguing life of Veerappan” through never-before-seen footage, offering new perspectives from eminent personalities. The documentary series will feature interviews with individuals such as Nakkheeran Gopal, Seeman, N Ram, Pa Pa Mohan, Subbu, Alexander IPS, Rohini, Jeeva Thangavel, Mohan Kumar, and Dhamayanthi. These figures either had direct interactions with Veerappan or were involved in operations to apprehend him.

“Koose Munisamy Veerappan – Unseen Veerappan Tapes” joins a lineup of films and documentaries dedicated to the infamous bandit. Filmmaker AMR Ramesh’s bilingual “Vanayudham/Attahasa” and Ram Gopal Varma’s “Killing Veerappan” have previously explored different facets of his life and demise. Ramesh is currently working on a web series delving into the intricacies of Veerappan’s life and the governmental operations to capture him. The Netflix documentary “The Hunt For Veerappan,” released earlier this year, focused on the relentless cat-and-mouse game between Veerappan and law enforcement, highlighting his impact on the forests of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
