Keerthy Suresh meets Vijay, extends warm birthday wishes
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and actor C. Joseph Vijay celebrated his 52nd birthday on June 22, marking his first birthday since assuming office as the state’s chief minister. The occasion saw greetings from film personalities, political leaders, and supporters across social media platforms.
Among those who shared their wishes was actor Keerthy Suresh, who posted a heartfelt note on social media. She also met Vijay with her husband. Reflecting on his journey, she noted that his birthdays were traditionally associated with announcements related to his films, such as teasers, trailers, or first-look posters.
Keerthy remarked that this year carries a different significance, as Vijay is now embarking on a new phase of public service rather than introducing another screen character. She described his transition from cinema star to political leader as an important milestone and expressed support for his new responsibilities.
She concluded her message with Tamil birthday greetings for the leader, affectionately referred to by his supporters as “Thalapathy.”
Vijay’s political rise has often drawn comparisons with celebrated actor-politicians such as N.T. Rama Rao, M.G. Ramachandran, and J. Jayalalithaa. After announcing his political ambitions in February 2024, Vijay launched Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) and held his first major public rally later that year. He subsequently travelled across Tamil Nadu, presenting his vision and engaging directly with voters.
Choosing to contest independently rather than align with major national or regional parties, Vijay entered the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. TVK emerged with 108 seats and went on to form the government with support from alliance partners.
