Keerthy Suresh calls AI misuse “Hurting and Irritating”
Actress Keerthy Suresh has opened up about the emotional toll of dealing with AI-generated altered images of herself circulating online, calling the experience “irritating” and “hurting.”
Speaking at a recent event for her upcoming film Revolver Rita, the National Award winner revealed she was initially stunned by how realistic some of these morphed images appear. She recalled seeing pictures of herself in an unflattering pose or an outfit she didn’t recall wearing, only to realize later they were entirely AI-created.
“AI has become a huge issue. It has turned into a boon and a bane,” she stated, adding, “It definitely hurts me and my family to see AI-edited or fully generated versions of me circulating online.”
The actress has previously spoken out against deepfake technology, specifically extending her support to actress Rashmika Mandanna following a viral deepfake incident.
Keerthy’s recent comments underline a growing concern within the film fraternity and the public about the ethical misuse of AI for creating convincing, yet fabricated, media that violates privacy and causes distress.
