Karuppar Koottam YouTube channel in soup for denigrating Kandha Sashti Kavasam

Following the arrest of  Senthil Vasan,who was associated with Karuppar Koottam YouTube channel which allegedly denigrated Lord Muruga and insulted  Hindu Sentiments by the central Crime Branch police, the presenter of the channel Surendra Natarajan on Thursday surrendered before the Tamilnadu police at Kottamedu,Ariyankuppam near Puducherry.

It may be noted that the BJP had organised widespread protest all over Tamilnadu demanding action against the channel  and immediate arrest of all involved in the crime.It was alleged that the channel Karuppar Kootam insulted the faith of Hindus by uploading a video with dubious claims about devotional song Kandha Sashti Kavasam.

Earlier, police arrested M Senthil Vasan, one of the key members of the channel, on Wednesday evening.

Surendra Natarajan, another prominent anchor of the channel, is said to have filed an anticipatory petition in Madras High Court to prevent his arrest.

The police made the arrests based on complaints filed by RC Paul Kanakaraj, head of the state BJP Advocates’ division in Tamil Nadu, Vinoj P Selvam, BJP’s state youth wing leader, on behalf of BJP State vice president MN Raja.

The Cyber Crime Branch (CCB) of the Chennai police registered a case against Surendran Natarajan of the Tamil YouTube channel Karuppar Koottam, based on a complaint filed by the BJP on Monday. This, following a video by the rationalist group which allegedly contained derogatory remarks against Hindu deity Murugan.

A case has been filed under Sections 153 (intent to cause riot), 153(A)(1)(a) (causes disharmony or feelings of enmity, hatred or ill-will between different reli­gious, racial, language or regional groups or castes or communi­ties), 295(p) (defiling a place of worship), 505(1)(b) (likely to cause, fear or alarm to the public), 505(2) (makes, publishes or circulates any statement, rumour or report) of the Indian Penal Code.
