Karunas: Tirunelveli police in Chennai, actor-MLA in ICU, sends notice to disqualify Speaker

MLA, actor and Mukkulathor Puli Padai party founder Karunas has been admitted to a private hospital at Vadpaalani in Chennai, complaining of chest pain.

This has come at a time when a special team of police from the southern district of Tirunelveli came to his residence in order to arrest him in connection with a case that is registered against him.

In the meantime, Karunas has sent a notice to the Secretary of the Tamil Nadu State Legislative Assembly, seeking the removal of Speaker P Dhanapal under Article 179(c) of the Constitution.

Karunas has also marked a copy of the notice to the Speaker. He has requested the Secretary’s office to move the resolution as per Rule 68 of the Tamil Nadu State Legislative Assembly.

He said he intended to move the resolution in the State Assembly seeking to remove the Speaker by invoking Rule 68 of Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Rules under Article 179 (C) of the Constitution by giving 14-day notice.

He also requested the secretary to include it on the list of business for the leave of the House to move the resolution to remove Dhanapal from the post of Speaker.
