Karunas, Chandrasekar represent Kollywood Assembly
While Vijayakanth, Sarathkumar, C R Saraswathi and Kitty (Raja Krishnamurthy) lost the Assembly elections, two persons from Kollywood will go to Assembly this time- Karunas and Vagai Chandrasekar.
Karunas, who contested on behalf of Thevar Pulipadai on an AIADMK ticket, emerged victorious in Thiruvadanai seat. Chandrasekar, who was fielded by the DMK in Velachery in Chennai, defeated Kitty and other contestants.
Sarathkumar, an alliance partner of the ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, lost to Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leader and former minister Anitha Radhakrishnan in Tiruchendur constituency.
C R Saraswathi was defeated by the DMK’s E Karunanidhi in Pallavaram constituency and DMDK’s president and the third front’s chief minsiterial candidate Vijayakanth lost deposit in Ulundurpet.
It is to be noted that Karunas is the present vice-president of Nadigar Sangam (South Indian Artistes Association) and Chandrasekar is its past vice-president.
Interestingly, both Sarathkumar and Vijayakanth occupied the coveted posts of president of the Nadigar Sangam for many years, it may be recalled.
