DMK president and former chief minister M Karunanidhi, who has developed an allergy and was advised rest by doctors, is recuperating, it is learnt.
Karunanidhi has fallen ill after he developed allergy to a medicine he is taking regularly, said a release issued by the party on Tuesday.
The release said the DMK chief had not been keeping well for the past few days. “Doctors have advised him a few more days rest, and people are advised not to disturb him,” it said.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Police arrested eight people for spreading rumours about the health of chief minister J Jayalalithaa, who is getting treatment in Apollo Hospital. More than 50 people have cases registered against them for spreading rumours or talking about Jayalalithaa’s health in public platforms.
Karunanidhi had earlier suggested that Jayalalithaa’s photographs be released to squash rumours being circulated about her health. “Some persons are spreading unwanted rumours about her health on the social media and to put an end to these, proper information about the Chief Minister’s health must be made available to the people,” he said in a statement.
