The grand old man of Indian politics, DMK president M Karunanidhi, celebrates his 93rd birthday today.
In his epistle to his party members on the eve of his big day, he blamed other Opposition parties of Tamil Nadu for what he called facilitating a “back door entry to power through short cut” for the AIADMK and rued that his party lost opportunity to capture power by a whisker.
He urged DMK members to come forward to instill sense into ‘senseless people’. Pointing out that the party missed the victory by a thin margin in the recently concluded assembly elections, he blamed the acts of the ruling AIADMK and the Election Commission for the DMK’s defeat.

He pointed out that party, however, went on to win as many as 89 seats, a “historic” number for any opposition party in the State.
