Leader of the opposition in the 15th Tamil Nadu assembly and DMK treasurer M K Stalin chaired a meeting of party legislators in Chennai on Wednesday evening, ahead of the assembly session which would begin on Thursday with the customary address of the Governor.
Interacting with the media after the meeting, his son and party treasurer M K Stalin said Karunanidhi was forced to stay away due to poor health.
Chairing the meeting in the absence of his father, Stalin, the opposition leader, addressed the gathering, particularly the 42 newly-elected MLAs, as to how to conduct inside the Assembly.

Former Assembly Secretary Selvaraj explained them the rules and regulations of the House.
Asked whether Karunanidhi would attend the Assembly, Stalin said the party had already submitted a letter seeking proper seating arrangement for the wheel-chair bound leader.
