DMK president and former Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi was shifted to a Chennai hospital past midnight, hours after his son MK Stalin issued a statement that there is an improvement in his health and urged party workers not to believe rumours being spread by miscreants.
Karunanidhi was shifted to the hospital in an ambulance at around 1.30 am from his residence for advanced treatment.
A team of doctors, who arrived at his Gopalapuram residence just before midnight last night, reviewed his condition following which he was shifted to the hospital.
He was admitted to hospital after a drop in blood pressure, the hospital said adding it was stabilised as soon as treatment began.
However, he remains in ICU and continues to be monitored and treated by a panel of expert doctors, the Kauvery Hospital said in a bulletin.
On the advice of physicians treating him at the residence, Karunanidhi was shifted to hospital, it is learnt. On Friday evening, Stalin issued a statement appealing to party cadres not to believe ‘fake news’ being circulated about his father’s health condition.
He was suffering from fever and infection for the past few days and was being treated round-the-clock by a team of hospitals and nursing professionals at his house.
