Karunanidhi hospitalised after midnight health scare, 'condition stable after treatment'

Karunanidhi: Governor, Ghulam Nabi, TTV visit hospital; CM assures all help

Hours after DMK president and former Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi was admitted to hospital after his health suffered a setback during the wee hours of today, a host of politicians and film celebrities paid visit to the Kauvery Hospital at Alwarpet in Chennai.

Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit visited the hospital and spoke to Karunanidhi’s son and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam working president M K Stalin.

Senior Congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad, Mukul Wasnik, S Thirunavukkarasar, Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam leader TTV Dhinakaran, music maestro Ilayaraja, actors Prabhu and Nasser among others visited the hospital,

Meanwhile, talking to the media in Salem, chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami the government is ready to provide all medical help to Karunanidhi.

The CM said: “Karunanidhi had served as Chief Minister for five times and is currently an MLA, He has also been serving as the DMK president for a long period.”

He added: Karunanidhi is undergoing treatment and if requested by his family members, the State government is ready to provide necessary medical assistance.”

Kanimozhi told reporters outside the hospital: “His health is better. His blood pressure has stabilised now.” Slogans of ‘Vaazhga Vaazhga Vaazhga ve, Vaazhum Periyar Vaazhgave, Annavin thambi vaazhgave’ have continuously pierced the ears from the supporters since morning who brought traffic to a standstill in Mowbray’s road, CP Ramaswamy Road and Luz Church.
