DMK president M Karunanidh has showed signs of improvement of health conditions that kept him confined to his Gopalapuram residence,
According to sources, Karunanidhi is expected to make public appearance soon. He has not appeared on public stages or visited his party’s headquarters Anna Arivalayam for more than a month since he suffered drug allergy.
On Thursday, he released a picture of him, in which he was seen with
party general secretary K Anbazhagan and DMK treasurer and younger son M K Stalin, who is also the leader of opposition in Tamil Nadu Assembly.
Karunanidhi on Thursday asked the party cadre to participate in a nationwide protest on November 28 against demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes.
“It has been 16 days since Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced demonetisation. Still many people are standing in queues outside ATMs and banks to either withdraw money or to exchange invalid notes,” said Karunanidhi in a statement.
Meanhwile, the DMK, led by its treasurer M.K. Stalin, on Thursday staged a massive protest against the hardship caused to the people due to the Centre’s demonetisation scheme, by forming human chains across the State for an hour in the evening.
While Stalin participated in the protest in Chennai, regional leaders led the protests in the districts and Puducherry Chief Minister and Congress leader V. Narayanasamy joined the human chain in the Union Territory.
