Karthik Subbaraj begins pre-production works of Jigarthanda 2
It looks like the much-awaited sequel to Jigarthanda, an action comedy written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj, is indeed happening.
The director made the announcement on his social media page on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi and confirmed that Jigarthanda 2 is in the works. He wrote, “Happy Vinayagar Chathurthi 🪔🙏🏼 Pre Production from today… 😊 #JigarThanda2 Another Few Crimes & an Art… (sic).”
He shared an image along with it, which looks like the script for the film, placed next to Lord Ganesha idol.
Jigarthanda (2014) featured Siddharth, Lakshmi Menon, Karunakaran, Guru Somasundaram, Aadukalam Naren, Soundararaja, Ramachandran Durairaj, Sangili Murugan, Bala Singh, Delhi Ganesh, Bhagavathi Perumal to name a few.
Cinematography is by Gavemic U Ary, editing is by Vivek Harshan and music by Santhosh Narayanan.
The film was remade in Kannada with the same title, in Telugu as Gaddalakonda Ganesh and in Hindi as Bachchan Pandey.
The film is said to be inspired by the South Korean film, A Dirty Carnival. The film was bankrolled by Kathiresan’s Group.
