Karate Thiyagarajan to join BJP?

Former Chennai Corporation Deputy Mayor Karate Thiyagarajan is one among those who is disappointed that actor Rajinikanth has backed down from launching this party. It is now said that Karate Thiyagarajan has decided to join BJP.
Thiyagarajan who was Congress party’s South Chennai president was suspended after he expressed his opinion at an internal meeting of the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) in 2019. He had said that TNCC should contest on its own in at least 15 wards in south Chennai during the local body polls.
He was elected to the Chennai Corporation as an AIADMK councillor and became the deputy Mayor in-charge of Corporation of Chennai. He was expelled from the AIADMK in 2005.
He later joined the Congress. Thiagarajan is the president of Karate Association of India one of the two bodies running Karate in India and is involved in a dispute with All India Karate- do Federation. He was earlier the President of the All India Karate- do Federation.
