Saif Ali Khan’s controversial statement of “there was no concept of India before the British gave it one” has irked many on social media.
Saif’s Rangoon co-star Kangana Ranaut is the latest celebrity to slam his statement after Vivek Agnihotri, Tarek Fatah, and others. Kangana’s sister Rangoli Chandel on Twitter wrote: “Kangana asking Saif Ali Khan a very important question … over to you Saif”.
The actor’s remark didn’t go down with several netizens, who were quick to troll and slam him for his statement. The latest one to criticise Saif’s take is actress Kangana Ranaut, who has not only refuted Saif’s remark, but has also expressed her opinion without mincing any words.
Kangana in an interview with Zee News said, “This is not true. If there was no Bharat then what was Mahabharat? That 5,000-year-old text that was written, what was it? What did Ved Vyas write? Some people have just created these narratives that suit them. Sri Krishna was in Mahabharat. So there was a Bharat, that’s why it was mahaan (great). All the kings of India came together to fight that war. So it’s natural….”
The actress also said that Europe, too, has small nations, but all of them have a collective identity, adding that this was the reason why Sri Krishna had gone to the above-mentioned places to ask who will be a part of the war.
She added that in current times, some talk about territories should be different and split. Recalling the division of India, the actress said that it has happened a long time back but people are still suffering because of the same.
In Panga, Kangana will be essaying the role of a Kabaddi player. Helmed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, the film also stars Richa Chadda, Neena Gupta and Jassie Gill. It has been slated to hit the theatres on January 24.
