Kamal, Vivekh pay rich tributes on Nagesh

Kamal Haasan on Sunday took to Twitter to remember legendary actor Nagesh on his 87th birth anniversary.

Kamal recalled Nagesh’s fond memories and wrote that the late actor is always in his thoughts.. Nagesh, who is known for his comedy roles, breathed his last on January 31, 2009. Many celebrities called it a huge loss for the film fraternity.

Kamal Haasan’s post is loosely translated as “Nagesh Ayya..there have been very few days when I do not think of you. The magician who has delighted many generations. I will be part of that fan crowd too. He was one of my gurus who came in disguise as a friend. His art will live in my DNA forever.”

My fav is thillana mohanambal.”

Nagesh is regarded as one of the most prolific comedians in Tamil cinema (Kollywood). He acted in over 1,000 films from 1958 to 2008, performing in a variety of roles as comedian, lead roles, supporting actor and antagonist.

He has also acted in Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi and Kannada films. Similarities between Nagesh and Lewis earned Nagesh the sobriquet the “Jerry Lewis of India”. He was also a fantastic dancer. The song “Kanni Nathiyoram” in the movie Neerkumizhi shows some of his comic dance skills.
