Makkal Needhi Maiam founder-president Kamal Haasan released his party’s political anthem album titled ‘Ithu Nammavar Padai’ in Chennai on Monday.
The lyrics for the six songs in the album are penned down by core party member Snehan. While most songs in the album have a strong folk influence with loud ‘urumi melams’ and nadhaswarams, music director Tajnoor has also used EDM beats and characteristic music signatures of 90s film music in a few songs.
This was the first public event to be addressed by Kamal after MNM was registered as a political party by the Election Commission of India.
A few days ago, he had been to New Delhi to register his party. During his stay at the national capital, he called on AICC leaders Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi and reportedly discussed Tamilnadu politics.
Speaking at the anthem launch, said Snehan had aptly described what his feelings about the way things were in the State and hinted that Snehan had understood him during the last year’s edition of Bigg Boss itself.
“These songs are meant for the people and for inspiring the people, but I want to hear from them. It is their anger that inspires me,” Kamal said.
