Kamal rejigs party, hoists MNM flag

Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) founder-president Kamal Haasan hoisted the party flag at the MNM party office in Alwarpet, Chennai and announced the names of the office bearers of the party today.

The high-level committee comprising 16 members has been dissolved and an executive council has been formed with the same set of members.

According to Kamal, professor Gnanasambandham will serve as vice-president, Arunachalam as general secretary and Suka as treasurer.

Kamal also unfurled the party flag in the party’s office for the first time after getting official recognition from Election Commission.

Dismissing criticism that his party is adopting a top down approach, Kamal said,” We have started from the bottom and we will go further below and connect with the cadres.

Makkal Needhi Maiam is a political party floated by Haasan, which was registered as a political party by the Election Commission on June 22. Haasan had launched the party in February in the presence of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and others.
