Makkal Needhi Maiam founder president Kamal Haasan met Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy in Bengaluru today and discussed the issue of sharing of the Cauvery water.
The two leaders met last month when Kumaraswamy invited Kamaal Haasan to attend his oath ceremony in Bengaluru. Today they discussed the contentious issue of Cauvery water sharing between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Kumaraswamy said, “Regarding Water Management Board, what Kamal discussed with me, both states maintain cordial relationship as brothers and sisters whatever problems we have to equally share. Both Karnataka and Tamil Nadu farmers are important.”
Kamal called the Chief Minister’s response very heartening, and said that he came on behalf of the people of Tamil Nadu. “Tamil Nadu would like the Cauvery Management Authority to be expedited,” Kamal said.
He added: “We will like it to be expedited. This attitude is what we are expecting. I am very happy that here is a CM who’s looking at it in the same manner.”
“I am ready to be the bridge between the two States. We need water for kuruvai crop. Kumaraswamy has responded positively,” Kamal said further.
Meanwhile, Gandhiya Makkal Iyakkam leader Tamilaruvi Manian, a close aide of Rajinikanth, today said Kamal is trying to defame the superstar. “Kamal is selfish and is trying to benefit out of confused situation,” he said.
