Kamal Haasan today appeared before Election Commission Office in Delhi today for the registration of his party Makkal Needhi Maiam.
According to the ECI, no objections have been received so far for registering Makkal Needhi Maiam.
Speaking to reporters after meeting the officials, Haasan said, “Election Commission had sought certain queries regarding our party.”
He added: “We have furnished all those details today. EC has said that very soon, the recognition to the party will be given.”
The actor-turned-politician had launched his party and its flag on 21 February, 2018 in Madurai.
The flag is symbolised by six interlocked hands, meant to represent co-operation between the Southern states (5 States and 1 Union Territory). Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal was the special guest for the event when Kamal Haasan announced his new party.
Meanwhile, later in the fay, Kamal Haasan is expected to meet meet Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal while in Delhi.
The actor who is in national capital also expressed his support for the sit-in protest by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at LG Anil Baijal’s residence.
