Kamal Haasan said that there shouldn’t be another mishap like Indian 2. Kamal Haasan, director Shankar, and representatives of Lyca Productions along with FEFSI’s President RK Selvamani handed over Rs 1 Crore each to the families of the three deceased technicians who lost their lives in the tragic accident happened on the sets of Indian 2.
Speaking on the occasion, the actor-politician said, “Actors and directors are emotional people, they would financially help the affected technicians but we should appreciate the producers who have come forward offer a huge help”.
When asked whether they will conduct shoot on the same sets, Haasan said: “Only director Shankar should take a final call on that”.
A crane with heavy-duty light comes crashing down on location killing three people and leaving ten injured. Now, the producers of the film, director Shankar and actor Kamal Haasan issued cheque to the families who were affected due to the accident.
The deceased were identified as Krishna and Madhu, who were assistant directors in director Shankar’s team, and another person named Chandran from the catering team. Actor Kamal Haasan, Kajal Aggawal and costume designer Amritharam were apparently just ten seconds away from being crushed by the crane.
A month after the tragic incident, Lyca Productions, released a statement saying Kamal Haasan should also take the responsibility for the mishap.
Their statement read, “As you are surely aware, incidents of this nature need to be dealt with in the spirit of collective responsibility and rectification. Given the involvement of an eminent artiste and technician of your calibre and experience, and a veteran director of Mr Shankar’s stature being the captain of the ship, we were doubly confident that our own safety measures would have been amplified by your on-the-spot judgement. It hardly needs reminding that the entire shoot was also under the control and supervision of yourself and the director.”
