Kamal Haasan-director Shankar’s Indian 2 to be shelved?

Kamal Haasan, last seen in Vishwaroopam 2 is all set to make his return to the silver screen with Shankar’s Indian 2. The upcomer is reportedly the sequel to Shankar and Haasan’s 1996 political-thriller of the same name.

The movie that went on floors in 2019 has been shelved, reveal reports in multiple platforms. The makers of Indian 2 are yet to react to the news stories.

According to reports, the Kamal Hassan starrer has been in limelight for various not so good reasons like musical genius A R Rahman’s exit from the project.

Following which young composer Anirudh Ravichander was roped in for musical works of Indian 2. The film was initially supposed to be bankrolled by producer Dil Raju, but following some unknown reasons he opted out from the project, and Lyca productions stepped in.

The shooting of the film was stopped after an unexpected accident that occurred on the sets of the film in February. While the team was planning to resume the shooting in March, the plans had gone for a toss following the coronavirus outbreak and nationwide lockdown.

Now, reports have started to emerge that the makers are planning to shelve the project featuring Kamal Haasan and Shankar. With so much investment made and also all issues sorted, the shooting of the film had been progressing at a brisk pace, one can surely hope for the film to be completed soon after the lockdown.

Indian 2 is the sequel to 1996 movie, Indian, which was also directed by Shankar. The original film had Kamal Haasan in dual roles. Kasthuri and Suganya played the female leads. Indian 2 will have Kajal Aggarwal, Priya Bhavani Shankar and Rakhul Preet Singh as the female leads
