Kalasagar Award Presentation on 5th December 2021
Kalasagar awards for exemplary contribution in the field of traditional performing arts for the year 2020 and 2021 will now be presented on 5th December 2021 at 4p,m,in association with Kunnamkulam Kathakali Club and Ministry of Culture,Government of India at Badhani School, Kunnamkulam, Thrissur.
Fears over the Covid spread Government of India and Kerala insist that all public events and social gathering needs to be put on hold till further notice. In view of the above we at Kalasagar cancelled the presentation of Kalasagar Award for exemplary contribution in the field of traditional performing art forms to be presented on May 28 when the 97th birth anniversary celebrations of Kalamandalam Krishnankutty Poduval, legendary kathakali mastero and founder of Kalasagar stands postponed till further notice.
Now the Government authorities has relaxed the stringent conditions and allowed to organize social gatherings with all Covid protocol to be followed, Kalasagar awards are given in honour of the artistes in the field of Kathakali – Vesham, Music, Chenda, Maddalam and Chutty as well as Bharathanatyam, Mohiniyattom, Kuchipudi, Ottenthullal, Chakyarkoothu, Koodiyattom, Thayambaka, and Panchavadyam — Thimila, Maddalam, Edakka, Thalam and Kombu. The awardees are selected through nominations received
from art conosseiures as in the previous years.
