Story:
Nallandi is someone who does not know anything other than farming. The octogenarian lands in legal soup after he buries three peacocks in his land.
He is put behind the bars for a few weeks by the district magistrate court. Meanwhile, back in his village, people are waiting for his return as he grows the grains needed to conduct a traditional festival. Nallandi’s only relative is his son Vijay Sethupathi who becomes a gypsy after a after a tragic incident in his life. He visits Nallandi once in a while. Was Nallandi released from the prison, did the festival take place as planned forms the rest of the story. Analysis: The movie’s biggest strength is the way in which director Manikandan has handled the plight of the farmers without melodrama. Most of the situations and scenes are realistic making the audience easily relate to them. Nallandi has lived as the character. Though he is not a professional actor, he has given the much needed impact for the role with his realistic performance. Vijay Sethupathi and Yogi Babu appear in extended cameos. Raichal Rebecca as the young judge is impressive. Rest of the cast have also done their part well. Most of the supporting characters are actual villagers which gives us raw and enjoyable performances. Background score by Santhosh Narayanan complements the movie well. Manikandan has also cranked the camera and some of the shots are breath-taking.
