Judge visits Ramkumar at hospital, orders judicial custody till July 18: The fourth metropolitan magistrate court judge Gopinath today visited Ramkumar, the accused in techie Swathi murder case, at the Royapettah government hospital in Chennai and recorded his statement.

The magistrate later remanded him in judicial custody for 14 days till July 18.

Since he is undergoing treatment at the hospital, following a surgery performed at Tirunelveli Government Medical College Hospital after he slit his throat in a suicide bid when the police went to arrest him, he will be shifted to the prisoners’ ward at the hospital.

P Ramkumar, 24, was brought in an ambulance from Tirunelveli Government Medical College Hospital with a medical team and police escort and admitted to the Government Royapettah Hospital in the early hours.

As Ramkumar’s health condition is fast recuperating, he is expected to shift from the hospital to Puzhal central prison in a couple of days.

He had attempted suicide by slashing his neck when surrounded by police following which he was undergoing treatment at the Tiruneveli hospital.

Tirunelveli First Judicial Magistrate Ramadoss had yesterday visited Ramkumar at the hospital in Tirunelveli and gave authorisation to bring him to Chennai,
