JoSAA 2025 Counselling Guide: Step-by- Step Instructions for Seat Allotment

Target is IIT for BTech? Then, the next stepping stone is clearing JEE Main and JEE Advanced with flying  colours. Post clearing JEE Advanced, students should appear for JoSAA Counselling. It is a centralised seat  allocation process for admission to IITs, NITs, IIITs and GFTIs.

The registration for JoSAA 2025 is expected to start from June 3. It is generally started a day after JEE  Advanced results are announced. This comprehensive JoSAA 2025 guide will walk you through each step—  how to register, what’s freeze and slide? based on the official JoSAA process of previous year, which is  expected to remain similar in 2025.

What is JoSAA?

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) is a government body established by Ministry of Education  (MoE) to manage seat allocation across: 23 IITs, 32 NITs, 26 IIITs, and 38 Government Funded Technical  Institutes (GFTIs). JoSAA is the only gateway for admission to these institutions.

JoSAA combines both JEE Main (for NIT+, i.e., NITs, IIITs, GFTIs) and JEE Advanced (for IITs) qualified candidates into one unified counselling process.
