Jio MAMI Gold Awardee Mr. Praveen Giri has directed Unchained Pictures’s maiden independent feature presentation titled “Mankhurd”. Mr. Harish Raahithya has scored music, Mr. Vishwa has filmed, Mr. Priyan Prasad has edited and Mr. Rikesh Kumar has lead the art department. The film’s main cast includes Methagu fame, Mr. Raja, Miss. Sowndarya Manoharan, Mr. Syed Basha and Mrs. Alka Saxena. The film’s principal crew includes Mr. Barathy Kolappan, Mr. M. Raja and Miss Ammu Bhairavi.
Mr. Praveen Giri has directed several award-winning short films. He has also been involved in a project whose lead was veteran filmmaker, actor Thiru Bharathiraja.
“Mankhurd” is set amidst the chaotic streets of Mankhurd, Mumbai, where two ordinary minority residents are taken as pawns for an extraordinary political game. A looming by-election sparks a sinister plot by a political party. Muhammad and his daughter, Nisha fall victim to this deceit, suffering in captivity. As political maneuvers play out, a sympathetic leader seems to be the only ray of hope. Can they escape the trap or will they face dire consequences? Their survival hangs in the balance, with time ticking away. In this gripping tale of resilience and betrayal, Muhammad and Nisha navigate a vicious treacherous political world. Only time will reveal all the answers, reshaping their lives and the fate of Mankhurd itself.
The film’s principal photography and subsequent schedules took place in various parts of Mumbai, India. Owing to the film’s diverse narrative it features people from ethnicities ranging from Tamizh, Hindi, Marathi. Therefore the film is being presented multilingually.
The film was produced independently, collaborated with a talented pool of artists and crew. It is currently in circulation amongst film festivals, world-wide.
