Here is the latest update about Jiiva’s upcoming film Kavalai Vendam, which is billed to be his comeback venture.
Abinesh Elangovan’s Abi & Abi Pictures has snapped all India theatrical rights of the upcoming rom-com, from Elred Kumar’s RS Infotainment. “The rights have been acquired for a good price,” sources said.
Directed by Deekay of Yamirukka Bayamey fame, the film has Jiiva, Kajal Aggarwal, Bobby Simha, Mantra, Sunainaa, Mayilsamy and RJ Balaji in pivotal roles.
“Kavalai Vendam as the title suggests is an apt movie to watch in the holidays. Director Deekay has dwelled upon few factors that will attract the audience to the screens. We are confident of providing a clean slate of entertaining content and feel good factor to the audience,” says the film’s producer Elred Kumar.
In January 2015, Jiiva signed on to appear in a venture directed by Deekay and produced by Elred Kumar, who had made Yaamirukka Bayamey (2014). Keerthy Suresh and Nikki Galrani were signed to portray further leading roles, while the director revealed that Bobby Simha would make an extended guest appearance.
The film’s first look was released in June 2015, with Jiiva revealed to be playing a chef. Despite the initial photo shoot featuring the lead actors, the project became delayed and the shoot failed to take off throughout 2015.
Consequently, both lead actresses opted out due to date issues and were replaced by Kajal Aggarwal and Shruthi Ramakrishnan. Sunaina also joined the cast of the film in January 2016.
