Jiiva thrilled to play Krishnamachari Srikanth

Jiiva, who is waiting for the release of Gypsy, is all set to play legendary cricketer Krishnamachari Srikkanth in his upcoming Hindi film 1983. The film will mark his high profile debut in Bollywood.

1983 is expected to retell the events that led to the Indian cricket team’s big win in the year in the World Cup. Bollywood star Ranveer Singh plays Kapil Dev in the film, which is being directed by Kabir Khan.

According to sources, Jiiva is undergoing training under cricketer Chandu to get his act right in the movie. “He is playing cricket matches with professionals,” they added.

The film is scheduled to release on August 30, 2019. Directed by Kabir Khan, Reliance Entertainment and Vibri Media are jointly producing the film.

Jiiva says that 1983 World Cup will be a multi-starrer which is being made at a whopping budget of 100 crore rupees. “I am happy to play Srikanth’s role in the movie,” he adds.

Besides 1983 and Gypsy, the Siva Manasula Sakthi actor has an untitled film with Arulnithi in the pipeline. Also, his Gorilla is waiting for release and is expected to hit the screens soon.
