Independent Gujarat MLA and Dalit activist Jignesh Mevani, who is a friend of director Pa Ranjith, has showered praises on superstar Rajinikanth’s Kaala.
“Do watch P. Ranjith’s #Kaala: Watched Kala yesterday and felt that I am also a Kala. Very good film,” Mevani posted on his microblogging page.
He added: “Our brother @beemji (also director of Kabali) has come up with one more very good film challenging the established order in many subtle yet entertaining way. Proud of Pa. Ranjith.”
Produced by Dhanush, the film released to packed houses and celebrations by fans on Thursday last. In the meantime, the superstar has left for Dehradun for the shoot of his upcoming film with director Karthik Subbaraj.
To be produced by Sun Pictures, Anirudh is composing the music for the film which is being directed by Karthik Subbaraj of Jigarthanda and Iraivi fame.
Prior to release, the Karnataka Film Chambers of Commerce (KFCC) had said the film would neither be distributed nor screened in the state due to Rajinikanth’s alleged views on the Cauvery dispute, demanding release of water to Tamil Nadu as per Supreme Court direction. But the film hit the screens in Karnataka later.
