DMK president M Karunanidhi has said there was nothing new in the issues raised by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa when she met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi, saying her dossier of demands was just “old wine in new bottle.”
Jayalalithaa met Modi in New Delhi on Tuesday and presented a memorandum to him.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Karunanidhi said most of the 29-point charter of demands for Tamil Nadu are the same as those presented to the Prime Minister in the last two years.

“For example, the demands for Cauvery Management Board and Cauvery Water Regulation Committee were there in the memoranda presented to Modi in 2014 and 2015. When Modi met her in her house in 2015, she gave him a memorandum. The Cauvery issue was the first demand in that memorandum,” he said.
“We can easily understand that these demands have not been fulfilled, from the fact that they are being repeatedly taken up (with PM Modi),” he said.
The DMK chief said that after demands are made with the Centre, “political and administrative pressure” has to be exerted to ensure they are fulfilled, as state ministers have to call on their Union Cabinet counterparts and officials.
