Jayalalithaa sacks Shanmuganathan, inducts Pandirajan in cabinet

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Monday effected the first major reshuffle in her three-month old Cabinet by dropping Dairy Development Minister S.P. Shunmuganathan from the Council of Ministers.

Less than a fortnight ago, Shunmuganathan was removed as the party’s Thoothukudi district unit secretary, it may be recalled.

Entrepreneur-turned-politician ‘Ma Foi’ K Pandiarajan has been made the new School Education Minister while Dairy Development Minister S P Shanmuganathan lost his slot in the State Cabinet after the latest reshuffle on Monday.

Swearing-in of the new minister would take place at Raj Bhavan on Tuesday evening.

K T Rajenthra Bhalaji, Minister for Rural Industries as the Minister for Milk and Dairy Development and P Benjamin, Minister for School Education, Sports and Youth Welfare as the Minister for the Rural Industries.

Pandiarajan was born in a small village called Vilampatti near Sivakasi. Lost his father, a match factory worker when he was three months old. Studied with scholarships and completed his engineering from PSG Tech, Coimbatore in 1981. Did his MBA from the world renowned XLRI Jamshedpur where he studied Human Resources Management.
