Jayalalithaa comes forward to take care of education expenses of poor MBBS student: AIADMK supremo and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa ha sanctioned Rs 75,000 towards the educational expenses of a poor medical aspirant in the first phase.
According to a press release from the AIADMK hadquarters here, Mekala, daughter of a poor family, studied well in Plus Two, scored good marks and got MBBS seat.
However, since her family could not afford her higher education expenses, she placed a request to Jayalalithaa to help her.
“Following this, the chief minister came forward to completely take over Mekala’s education expenses. For the first year, she presented her cheque for Rs 75,000 in Chennai on Monday,” said the release.
The girl had pleaded for assistance with the Chief Minister citing her poor economic background, it said, adding she had received admission at Tirunelveli Medical College and Hospital.
