Jaya wants Modi to ensure release of TN fishermen from Sri Lanka

Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa today urged prime minister Narendra Modi to take steps for immediate release of Tamil Nadu fishermen from Sri Lankan prisons.

“I write to you once again to bring to your notice yet another incident of apprehension of 4 Indian fishermen by the Sri Lankan Navy in the early hours of 2.6.2016. It has been reported that 4 Tamil Nadu fishermen along with their mechanised fishing boat from Kottaipattinam fishing base of Pudukottai District on 1.6.2016, have been apprehended by the Sri Lankan Navy in the early hours of 2.6.2016 and taken to Kankesanthurai, Sri Lanka,” she said in a letter.
