Jaya gives bicycles, motorbikes to Chennai cops for better patrolling: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today presented 100 motorbikes, 250 bicycles and 100 e-challan machines to Police personnel.

In the Assembly last week, the CM said though a solatium of Rs.500,000 was ordered to be paid to Munusamy’s family under the existing rules, it was felt that the amount was not sufficient.

The Chief Minister said she had directed the Chief Secretary to make amendments to the existing government order to increase the solatium to the policemen who were killed or injured while performing their duty.

In 2014, she flagged off 403 newly fitted patrol motorcycles, which are being used in the new patrol system that was put in place by the city
