Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Wednesday announced bonus to the tune of Rs 476.71 crore to the employees of various state public sector undertaking companies, in view of forthcoming festive season.
In an official statement released here, she said, “Workers contribute to the economic growth of a nation with their productivity. Therefore, to recognise their efforts, I have ordered Deepavali bonus to them. A total of 3,67,887 workers will be given Rs 476, 71,00,000 as bonus”.
About 3.67 lakh eligible employees would receive bonus of a minimum Rs 8,400 up to Rs 16,800 per month for the period 2015-16, she said.
Elaborating on this further, she said, “Employees in profit-making PSUs will get 8.33 percent bonus and 11.67 percent ex-gratia, thus amounting to a total of 20 percent”. “Loss-making PSU workers on the other hand, will get a minimum of 8.33 percent bonus and 1.67 percent ex-gratia- totalling 10 percent”, she added.
Tamil Nadu Housing Board, Chennai Metrowater Supply and Sewerage Board ‘C’ and ‘D’ section employees will receive 8.33 per cent bonus and 1.67 per cent ex-gratia, she said.
The CM also stated that workers who are contract-based will be granted Rs 4000, while those who do not come under the Bonus Act will be allotted Rs 3000, and those working with primary cooperative societies will be granted Rs 2400 as ex-gratia.
