Iran invites Prime Minister Modi to funeral of former supreme leader Khamenei

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has reportedly invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the funeral ceremonies of former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

According to reports, the funeral proceedings are scheduled to begin on July 4 and conclude on July 9 with burial ceremonies in Mashhad, Khamenei’s birthplace and one of Iran’s holiest cities.

Khamenei, who led Iran for more than three decades, was reportedly killed during military strikes carried out by Israel and the United States earlier this year.

The funeral is expected to draw political and religious leaders from several countries.
