Interesting updates on Dhanush-Rajkumar Periasamy film titled OM
The much-anticipated collaboration between actor Dhanush and filmmaker Rajkumar Periasamy has finally received an official title. The project, previously referred to as D55, has been christened OM, with the makers planning theatrical release for October 16, 2026, coinciding with the Deepavali holiday season.
The title was unveiled through a striking teaser that hints at a story rooted in themes of power, social change and resistance. While the makers have kept the plot under wraps, the promotional material suggests a narrative that could revolve around larger socio-political issues, with revolution and the influence of money appearing to be central motifs.
Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, who earned widespread acclaim for Amaran, the film marks his first collaboration with Dhanush. Speaking about the project, the filmmaker said the actor’s greatest strength lies in his ability to seamlessly blend artistic depth with mainstream appeal. According to Rajkumar, Dhanush possesses a rare understanding of both commercial cinema and nuanced storytelling, a quality that significantly shaped the creative process behind OM.
The director also indicated that the film has been designed to cater to a broad audience while retaining emotional and thematic substance. He noted that the team’s objective was to create a film that remains engaging on a large scale without compromising on storytelling integrity.
OM boasts an ensemble cast featuring Dhanush in the lead alongside Mammootty, Sai Pallavi and Sreeleela. The film has generated considerable buzz not only because of its star-studded lineup but also due to Mammootty’s return to a major Tamil project and the reunion of Sai Pallavi with both Dhanush and Rajkumar Periasamy after their previous successful collaborations.
