Producer CV Kumar, who turned director with the thriller Maayavan, and then followed it up with the gangster film Gangs Of Madras, has now started shooting for his third directorial.
Titled Kottravai, it will be an adventure movie revolving around an ancient Tamil goddess.
“Our film is about a treasure hunt, involving various clans, whose rivalry runs for generations, stretching back to many centuries,” says Kumar.
Talking about the title, Kumar says, “Kottravai is an ancient Goddess worshipped by Tamils even as early as 2,000 years ago. This goddess will figure in the treasure hunt.”
The team has started shooting earlier this week in Karaikudi.
Kumar, born as C Vijayakumar, is a producer, director and distributor who heads the production studio Thirukumaran Entertainment. Known for producing innovative and critically acclaimed films, Kumar has also primarily introduced new talent into the film industry in terms of actors and technicians.
His first three films, Attakathi, Pizza and Soodhu Kavvum won critical acclaim as well as bringing in revenue of over ₹50 crore (US$7.0 million). After producing successful films, Kumar began work on his first directorial venture in 2014.
